Redlands, CA, May 21, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Humor probably isn’t the first adjective that comes to mind when thinking about the Internal Revenue Service, but this collection of funny and outrageous stories about the IRS aims to take the mystery out of this government agency while taking a light-hearted tone. The author draws on his more than 20 years of tax experience to detail experiences such as audits, and uses simple, humorous and informative language to describe how the IRS works and how average U.S. taxpayers can learn how to deal with the agency without fear.

Without disparaging the IRS or the legal profession, these true stories in IRS for Lawyers and Other Dorks provide information to make it through the maze of documents often required by the agency that holds us accountable for paying taxes. The author discusses such things as fear and intimidation being the IRS mindset, the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing, the IRS never losing as a matter of policy, and there is no kinder, gentler IRS. The book, published by Dog Ear Publishing, also provides practical information and survival strategies, as well as examples of forms such as power of attorney.

Ven Matis has a law degree from the Marshall-Wyth School of Law at the College of William & Mary and has been an attorney since 1969, beginning to practice as a tax attorney in 1977. Although he’s now retired and serving as a consultant, he has dealt with the audit and collection divisions of the IRS and the three taxing agencies of the State of California. He also served as an estate planning consultant in Beverly Hills, Calif., and was an expert in offshore trusts in the Cayman Islands.
