Miller Construction Director of Information Technology Named a "40 Under 40 Leader"

Whitney Rawls, the director of information technology for Miller Construction Company, has been selected by Success South Florida Magazine as one of this year’s “40 Under 40 Leaders of Today and Tomorrow.” A native of Fort Lauderdale, Rawls began his career in 1994 after earning a bachelor’s degree in information technology from American Intercontinental University. He worked as a consultant and project manager prior to joining Fort Lauderdale-based Miller Construction Company in 2000.

Fort Lauderdale, FL, May 29, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Whitney Rawls, the director of information technology for Miller Construction Company, has been selected by Success South Florida Magazine as one of this year’s “40 Under 40 Leaders of Today and Tomorrow.”

The magazine’s fifth annual awards program on June 4 in Miami will honor leaders who have demonstrated their commitment to community service while achieving success in their professional lives. The 2010 honorees were nominated by their peers and then chosen by a selection committee comprised of past 40 Under 40 winners. Success South Florida Magazine is a news and business publication serving South Florida’s black professional community.

A native of Fort Lauderdale, Rawls began his career in 1994 after earning a bachelor’s degree in information technology from American Intercontinental University. He worked as a consultant and project manager prior to joining Fort Lauderdale-based Miller Construction Company in 2000.

“As an innovator, Whitney finds fresh approaches to both solve high-tech challenges and help meet community needs,” said Miller Director of Business Development Traci Miller. “By helping young people gain confidence and leadership skills, he’s making an important difference.”

At 36, Rawls’ community leadership is wide ranging. He serves as the current Advisory Board Chairman for The First Tee of Broward, a program that offers youngsters a combination of life skills, leadership and golf activities, and he serves on the Board of Directors for Leaders by Empowerment, Activists by Development, a youth leadership organization. He is a board member of the Emerge Broward program of Leadership Broward Foundation, and serves on the Executive Committee for the United Way of Broward County’s Young Leaders Society.

He is also President of the Board of Directors for the Boyd H. Anderson High School Alumni Association, Inc.; a member of the City of Pompano Beach’s Northwest Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory Board; and a member of Broward Ebony Golf Association.

Rawls lives in Pompano Beach with his wife, Raechel, an administrative aide/clerk at Dillard High School, and their two sons.
