AppAssure's Backup and Disaster Recovery Software Helps Protect Healthcare Provider's Data

AppAssure’s Replay 4 backup and disaster recovery software solution helps protect the business-critical data for GE Healthcare Centricity.

Reston, VA, May 30, 2010 --( AppAssure Software, a provider of award-winning backup and recovery software for Windows application servers, today announced that Southeastern Urological Center, P.A.’s medical management system – GE Centricity – is now affordably protected by AppAssure’s flagship backup and disaster recovery product, Replay 4.

For over 40 years, Southeastern Urological Center, P.A. in Tallahassee, FL., has given patients the most comprehensive urological health services, with cutting edge of technology, including GE Healthcare Solutions for staff, patients, and medical procedures.

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Barry Jalbert works to stay ahead of the technology curve by using Replay 4 backup and recovery suite, with SEUC’s primary facility and three remote offices. With 120 users, two websites (one with a patient portal) and about 19 servers (including a virtual server) Jalbert was always concerned about the traditional tape backup solution they were using. With SEUC’s medical and management recording done electronically on the GE Healthcare system, if a server went down, everything basically stopped: SEUC staff couldn’t look at records, doctors weren’t able to look at a patient’s history in order to make diagnoses, and surgeries couldn’t be scheduled.

According to AppAssure Software, Jalbert did a Replay 4 demo and realized he had found the backup and disaster recovery features he had wanted for awhile:

- A test environment where his whole database is not on the line
- The ability to replicate off-site
- Virtualization recovery
- Restore snapshots down to several minutes.

“In the healthcare industry,” notes Jalbert, “having our equipment working constantly and steadily is vital part of our work – with little or no downtime. With Replay 4 backup and recovery suite, I can restore so easily! I don’t have to catalog a tape, do an inventory, etc. and it’s all in just a partial amount of time.”

Jalbert says that he is convinced he has made the right decision that he presented Replay 4 at Centricity Technical Users of Information Technology’s Annual Conference in New Orleans in January. “I believe in this product. I feel more confident about all my systems, and AppAssure’s tech support has been great!”
