Los Angeles Music Academy, DrumChannel.com and DRUM Magazine Host Five-Day All-Star Drummer’s Reality Camp

Oxnard, CA, June 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Don Lombardi, founder of DW Drums and creator of www.DrumChannel.com, along with DRUM! Magazine and the Drum Department at Los Angeles Music Academy College of Music, have put together a star-studded musical event for drummers, by drummers. The Drummer’s Reality Camp is a five-day workshop from June 28th to July 2nd, featuring workshops, lessons, master classes, special performances and autograph sessions with some of the most respected names from the drumming world. Guest artists Alex Acuña, Peter Erskine, and JR Robinson (with others to be announced) join Artists-in-Residence Ralph Humphrey, Terry Bozzio, Efrain Toro and Joe Porcaro to guide participants through a very special week of intense instruction.

“This event is for all drummers who want to take their playing to the next level,” says Don Lombardi, “It’s a great opportunity for drummers to get up close and personal with some of the biggest names in drums. Those who sign up will also receive three months of access to Drum Channel lessons online, which can help prepare them for the camp and keep them going after.”

LA Music Academy is known for bringing visiting artists and clinicians in for single day master classes, workshops and special performances but this is the first public event dedicated to a single instrument over the course of five days. “We are excited to team up with Drum Channel and DRUM! Magazine so we can put on such a special event for the drumming community,” says Michael Packer, Vice President and Drum Department Instructor at LA Music Academy. “This is a music ‘camp’ no drummer should miss. It will provide a lifetime of information and materials, as well as long-lasting memories.”

A tentative schedule of events includes:

- Day 1: Ralph Humphrey class and ensemble workshop, private lessons, master class and evening concert with Alex Acuña
- Day 2: Joe Porcaro class and ensemble workshop, private lessons, master class and evening concert TBA
- Day 3: Tour of Drum Workshop, Inc. and DrumChannel.com, private lessons, master class and evening concert TBA
- Day 4: Terry Bozzio class, private lessons, JR Robinson master class, evening concert with JR Robinson and Native Son

The age requirement is 14 years old and up and participants need to have at least a year of drumming instruction. All drummers must bring a practice pad with stand and sticks, and drum kits will be provided for all scheduled drum set instruction. Drummers can also bring cymbals and pedals for after-hours practice in the school’s drum labs. Regular tuition for The Drummer’s Reality Camp is $1,495.00, but for those who take advantage of early bird registration before May 15, 2010, the cost is only $995.00.
