Grammy Award Winner, Lady Tramaine Hawkins, to Minister in Song During Both Fatherís Day Services at Faith Chapel Christian Center

Birmingham, AL, June 06, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Gospel icon and Grammy Award winner, Lady Tramaine Hawkins, will minister in song during two special services at Faith Chapel Christian Center on Father’s Day Sunday, June 20. The two services are scheduled for new times, 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. at The Word Dome located at 100 Lexington Street in the Wylam community of Birmingham. The public is invited to join us for this event.

When the words "icon" and "gospel" come together in a sentence, there are only a few people who fit the bill. Lady Tramaine Hawkins is certainly one of those people. Forever part of the history of gospel music, her vocal performance on songs like Changed, Goin’ Up Yonder, and He's That Kind Of Friend not only are classics, but have brought many Christians through a dark day. Her unmatched soprano chops; amazing fashion sense and commanding stage presence have secured her position as gospel royalty.

Dr. Henry Panion III, Faith Chapel’s Sr. Director of Fine Arts and UAB Professor, says, “You can expect another great service with this Gospel icon, as she ministers in song along with a Women’s Chorus of over 100 women. The band, the choir, and Lady Tramaine Hawkins will certainly make both services truly outstanding.”

Faith Chapel Christian Center was recently named the “new hot spot for Gospel artists” by Birmingham’s The Sword online Magazine. Due to the overwhelming response to recent events featuring artists such as The Rance Allen Group, and Shirley Murdock, to name a few, the church has decided to incorporate a second service on Father’s Day to accommodate the expected overflow crowd. Child care will be available for children 6 weeks to 6th grade during both services.

About Lady Tramaine Hawkins

The granddaughter of Bishop E.E. Cleveland, one of the founders of the Church of God in Christ, Lady Hawkins started singing at the age of four. By twelve, she was singing with the Heavenly Tones and ultimately connected with the Edwin Hawkins Singers. Soon after, she was the lead singer for the best-selling Love Alive series (spearheaded by Walter Hawkins) and she quickly became a household name. Songs like That Kind Of Friend, What Shall I Do, Trust and Obey, Fall Down, Highway, and countless others made her one of the most popular and celebrated artists in the genre. Hawkins was inducted into the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1999 and has been awarded two GRAMMY Awards, two Dove Awards, an NAACP Image Award and a Gospel Music Excellence Award. She’s recognized for putting out hit after hit, now with 10 solo albums to her credit.

Lady Tramaine was presented the James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2008 Stellar Awards held in Nashville, TN where she also added two more Stellar Awards to her collection of awards: Female Vocalist Of The Year and Traditional Vocalist Of The Year.
