Community Driven Online News Publication, "Classic City Courier," to Launch June 18

Classic City Media Group, an online media organization serving the Athens, GA community, announces a community-driven online newspaper that will launch on June 18.

Athens, GA, June 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Classic City Media Group (CCMG) is launching a community-driven online newspaper, Classic City Courier.

Classic City Courier will be a weekly publication that will give members of the Athens community an opportunity to tell stories that are important to them.

The first edition of the Courier will be published online on Friday, June 18.

At the beginning of June, the Courier began accepting submissions from the public of news articles, photographs, graphics, artwork, and other media, based on events happening in the community. Courier staff members will supplement the articles submitted by members of the public if photographs or graphics are not part of the original author’s submission. The Courier will also work with the original “citizen journalist” as far as the editing and proofreading process.

“People in Athens are interested in reading news that is relevant to their everyday lives. We feel the best way to determine the significance a story will have to the community is to allow the community members themselves to be part of the journalistic process,” CCMG President Brian Smith said.

At the publication’s launch, Smith will serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the Courier, and other members of CCMG’s Board of Directors will be active in the editing and proofreading processes.

In addition to the articles submitted by Athens-area residents, Courier staff will also create articles to further inform and entertain the community.
