Sound of Hole Cut Into Wall Detected by Sonitrol Pacific, Burglar Caught

Tacoma, WA, June 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Police caught a suspected burglar who cut a hole through the garage wall of a Tacoma business to get inside after Sonitrol Pacific’s audio security system detected him June 15.

Sonitrol Pacific Operator Michael Young received an activation of the audio sensors at Apex Engineering around two in the morning. He heard clattering, scraping and rustling noises and determined a break-in was in progress. Young called Tacoma Police.

Police arrived, confronted and arrested one suspected burglar. A second suspect got away.

According to police, the burglars cut a hole through the garage wall to try and evade the burglar alarm. However, Sonitrol Pacific’s security systems don’t rely on door contacts or motion sensors and the noise the burglars made activated the system. Audio sensors provide wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling protection.
