Q2 Presents Summer Series of Jazz Duets on First & Third Thursdays of the Month

Q2Nite has announced the line-up for the summer schedule of jazz duets, which opens on Thursday, July 1 with the pairing of jazz guitarist and mandolin player Don Stiernberg and vocalist and pianist Rashid.

Evanston, IL, June 24, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In April of 2010, a unique live jazz performance series started in Evanston at the intimate cocktail lounge Q2 (1625 Hinman Avenue). Featuring renowned musicians from Chicago’s rich jazz scene, the Q2Nite series was created by Emmy-Award winning musician and composer Steve Rashid who was inspired by the intimacy of Q2 (which holds only 30 patrons) to develop a series of jazz duets. Performances take place on the first and third Thursdays of the month, and artists perform two sets at 7:30 and 8:45 p.m.

Q2Nite has announced the line-up for the summer schedule of concerts, which opens on Thursday, July 1 with the pairing of jazz guitarist and mandolin player Don Stiernberg and vocalist and pianist Rashid. The summer line-up of jazz duos also includes:

July 15 – Jazz guitarist John Moulder & vibes player Ken Hall
August 5 – Critically acclaimed vocalist Typhanie Monique & guitarist Neal Alger
August 19 – Jazz pianist Joan Hickey & bass player John Tate
September 2 – Jazz vocalist Petra van Nuis paired with husband, jazz guitarist Andy Brown
September 16 – Jazz pianist & vocalist Steve Rashid & guitarist & mandolin player Don Stiernberg

Q2 offers a unique opportunity for musicians and guests alike to experience music up close and personal. The cozy space lends itself perfectly to the intimacy of jazz duets. Q2 is located across the hall from Quince at the Homestead, and admission to the performance series is free.
