Hawthorne, NJ, June 24, 2010 --(PR.com
)-- Philadelphia Phillies Centerfielder and Akadema endorser, Shane Victorino, became the Major League leader in triples as he tripled off A.J. Burnett of the New York Yankees. Victorino hit his league-leading seventh triple with the bases loaded to deep right centerfield on Wednesday night, June 16th at Yankee Stadium. The triple put the Phillies ahead of the Yankees 4-0, a lead they wouldn’t surrender on their way to a 6-3 victory over the defending world champions. For the past two seasons, Victorino has lead the league in triples and secured his first two Gold Glove awards. The “Flyin’ Hawaiian” currently has 11 home runs, 41 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases on the season. Current All-Star voting has Victorino in 5th place behind Ryan Braun, Jason Heyward, Andre Ethier, and Jayson Werth for the three available starting outfield spots. The Wailuku, HI native started last year’s All-Star game in centerfield and looks to do the same this year in Los Angeles.
