Australia’s Online Furniture Portal Launches Beta Test Site

Furniture retailers are getting behind Australia’s new aggregated online furniture portal, www.connectfurniture.com.au.

Melbourne, Australia, June 30, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Furniture retailers are getting behind Australia’s new aggregated online furniture portal, www.connectfurniture.com.au. Beta testing on the site commenced 21 December with retailers showcasing a selected product.

At the official public launch early in 2010, the online portal, which is based on similar principles to hugely successful sites such as www.realestate.com.au will showcase thousands of furniture items from domestic and commercial furniture providers. Buyers will be able to easily find both products that match their needs and the retail outlet to make their purchase.

The portal will target over two million consumers and commercial furniture buyers, and will be supported by a multi-million dollar marketing campaign including print, outdoor and online advertising, and public relations.

“Online plays a vital role in shoppers’ decision making” says Executive Director of ConnectFurniture, Joseph Bruzzaniti.

Research from the Australian Centre for Retail Studies (January 2008) showed that 50 per cent of Australian shoppers had researched their products online before heading into a store to complete their purchase.

“With one in two Australian buyers researching potential purchases online before visiting a bricks-and-mortar store to complete their purchase, furniture providers must have an online presence, regardless of their size,” says Mr Bruzzaniti.

“But the online presence needs to go beyond a traditional website, as people are increasingly going to aggregated search sites for speed and convenience.”

Domestic and commercial retailers have already signed up to promote their products through ConnectFurniture. Mr Bruzzaniti says that an introductory offer is being offered to retailers for a limited time.

“Retailers joining ConnectFurniture prior to the public launch are benefiting from our introductory retailer offers and the planned consumer promotions.”

Milk Furniture, the Melbourne based store which works with Italian designers to create beautiful furniture with form and function will be among the retailers on the site.

General Manager Ricci Thompson says the decision to commit to connectfurniture.com.au was an easy one.

“We see it as a real opportunity for Australian retailers like ourselves to showcase our furniture through a one-stop site. For Australians, the benefit is fast, easy access to a broad selection of furniture.”

Another retailer which will be featuring its furniture on the site will be Lifestyle Furniture, which prides itself on specialising in handcrafted, quality, beautiful solid timber furniture.

The owner of Lifestyle Furniture in Victoria, Mark Mortelleti, says he’s looking forward to showcasing his products on connectfurniture.com.au.

“There is nothing like this currently available in the Australian furniture industry and here at Lifestyle Furniture, we’re incredibly excited to be a part of this smart, new retailing solution.”

The connectfurniture.com.au. concept is the result of two years of market research and development in the furniture retailing industry, both in Australia and internationally. The founders have a strong track record in creating successful global businesses.
