About Norseman Wood Design: Eric Kvalheim is a native of De Forest, Wisconsin and learned wood-working from his father. His love of the texture and beauty of wood plus Kvalheim's natural skills in crafting and design spurred him to make cabinet-building his profession. Kvalheim works with oak, cherry, maple, and black walnut woods grown in Wisconsin. Many of the woods Kvalheim uses would otherwise be burned as scrap by the companies who harvested the trees. Kvalheim explained, "Whenever I can rescue small pieces of hard woods from the fire, I consider it a good day. Most of my woodcrafts start with small pieces that I layer to make bigger pieces of wood. I am extremely critical of my own work and sell nothing that isn't of the highest quality. I always make my items with the simple thought in mind: build them so they will be around a long time after I am gone."
