Comedy Explosion Tour Coming to Dover July 23

Dover, DE, July 02, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Dover Downs Hotel & Casino will host the Comedy Explosion Tour, presented by Bobby Wilson Entertainment in the Rollins Center on Friday, July 23, at 9 p.m. The performance features comedians Rodney Perry, Cocoa Brown, Honest John and Rob Stapleton and is scheduled to run until 11:30 p.m. with one intermission. Tickets are on sale now from $35 to $55.

Rodney Perry’s real life, hysterical comedy routines have gone viral with widespread Internet play from his own Car Bloggin’ commentary to The Rodney Perry Show, Rodney Perry Live, Blog Talk Radio, YouTube videos and more. Perry currently appears as funny co-host on BET’s “The Mo’Nique Show” five nights a week. He has served as co-host and Man On The Street for Bill Bellamy’s “Who’s Got Jokes?”

Perry’s many TV appearances include HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam,” BET’s “Comic View,” Showtime’s “Jamie Foxx’s Laffapalooza,” “Martin Lawrence Presents 1st Amendment Stand Up” on Starz, E! Network’s “Chelsea Lately” and Byron Allen’s “Comics Unleashed.” Perry starred on the big screen in The Informant with Matt Damon and appeared in Bushwhacked, Johnson Family Vacation, and Chicago Pulaski Jones among others.

Comedienne/author Cocoa Brown is a dynamic performer whose animated facial expressions and body gestures relate to both women and men. “I believe in being able to give the crowd what they want and I’m able to take my set in any direction at the drop of a dime,” said Brown. Like Perry, Cocoa Brown has appeared on “Comic View,” “Who’s Got Jokes?,” “Def Comedy Jam,” and “1st Amendment Stand Up,” as well as “One Mic Stand,” “Comic Groove” and “Kennedy Center Honors Richard Pryor.”

Cocoa Brown’s film credits include Lakeview Terrace with Samuel L. Jackson, American Carol with Kelsey Grammar, Hittin’ the Bricks with Dr. Dre, Blue Moon, Robbin’ in da Hood, and Mahogany Blues.

Funny man Honest John insists that “Weed is good for the economy; when people smoke weed, sales of candy bars and potato chips go right up.” A former nurse, Honest John began his comedy career on an open mic in the Comedy Act Theater stage in 1987 and quickly found his niche inside black clubs. "I've always dealt with current events and been political," quoted Honest John (Basinger) in a recent interview. "Comics that I worked with on mainstream shows started inviting me to shows they were doing in black clubs and it worked out very well. I think the funniest stuff is the truest stuff. I can get up on stage and say things that would get me in trouble any place else."

Honest John has appeared on “Comic View,” “Def Jam” and “Showtime at the Apollo” and guest starred on “The Jamie Foxx Show,” “Lyricist's Lounge” and “Showtime in Harlem.” Honest John can also be seen films like The Wash, For Da Love of Money, Foolish and other urban comedies.

Bronx native Rob Stapleton draws his material from New York streets with subjects like shoplifting as a sport and why strip clubs just do not work in New York. In a recent live stage performance he jibed, “Strippers in New York all look like they were just hired that day,” and proceeds to demonstrate a new mama holding her baby while she dances the pole. In his second-ever stage appearance on open mic at the Comic Strip, Stapleton went on behind Chris Rock. In a Comedy Central interview, Stapleton says of the experience, “I learned from that, never worry about who’s in front of you. Create your own energy on stage.”

Stapleton’s versatile style has made him a favorite on “Comic Groove” and “Comic View” with his trademark routines – “Your paycheck hiding in the mailbox” and “Rappers will try to scare you into liking their music.” Stapleton is well known for appearing on “1st Amendment of Stand Up,” “It's Showtime at the Apollo,” and “Def Comedy Jam.”

Tickets are on sale now at $35, $40 and $55 and may be purchased by phone through VIP Services at 800-711-5882 or online at www/doverdowns.com/entertainment.
