GTD Deploys GoBackTV's RetroVue in Hybrid DVB-C System

GoBackTV, the innovative supplier of digital video headend and edge solutions, today announced that Chilean operator Gtd Manquehue, a subsidiary of telecoms holding company Grupo GTD, has tapped GoBackTV and systems integrator I-Systems Ltda to enhance GTD’s existing DVB-C television offering with personal TV services.

Menlo Park, CA, July 11, 2010 --(PR.com)-- RetroVue components will deliver DVB-C scrambling and multiplexing, QAM-RF transport, video on demand (VoD), middleware, mosaic navigation, and television timeshifting.

Gtd Manquehue launched Chile’s first all-digital television system in 2006, and has continued to be at the forefront of home services innovation. “Today we are introducing in Latin America the first services that focus on customer needs around the convergence of Internet and TV. Many new developments have been introduced, but the most important enhancement is the customization of services to the unique needs of each customer or user,” said Fernando Gana, General Manager of Gtd Imagen. “GoBackTV’s RetroVue System not only enables us to deliver our immediate television service improvements, but also lets us add other enhancements in the future, exploring a direct relationship with our customer in any network, either fixed or mobile.”

“GoBackTV’s RetroVue System is very versatile,” added Jorge Oportot, Business Manager of I-Systems S.A. “The same set of equipment can support customers on fiber, DSL, traditional DVB-C cable, and also cable IPTV, and is integrated with a variety of ecosystem partners. It also integrates well with legacy DVB-C headend equipment, which helps operators preserve their existing investments.”

GTD is in the midst of extending the reach of its fiber (FTTH) network, and looks forward to augmenting its DVB-C digital cable with advanced services including high-definition TV (HDTV), IPTV, VoD, and faster internet access. Future plans include TV timeshifting and network personal video recording (nPVR).

“GoBackTV is pleased to have been chosen to help GTD stay at the vanguard of Chile’s television providers,” said Bill Gallagher, GoBackTV vice president of worldwide sales. “We pride ourselves on delivering cutting-edge solutions at very economical prices.”
