bmcm Supports Data Acquisition on Windows 7 (32/64 Bit)

With the "Software Collection CD 4.4," measurement hardware from BMC Messsysteme GmbH (bmcm) runs on Windows 7.

Maisach, Germany, July 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Since the official release of Windows 7 on October 22nd, 2009, the market share of the latest Microsoft operating system tops 15 percent already after a few months. New Windows PCs are only available with version 7.

It is generally agreed that what should have been achieved by the predecessor, Windows Vista, has finally been reached with Windows 7 now: considerable improvements in operability, optimization of processes for higher performance, significant reduction of compatibility problems.

In addition, the system requirements of the new operating system are just a little higher than for Windows XP so that even older PCs can be used with Windows 7.

With the latest "Software Collection," version 4.4 from BMC Messsysteme GmbH (bmcm), the manufacturer of "Innovative measurement technology made in Germany" now allows the use of his PC measuring cards and DAQ systems under Windows 7.

The bmcm "Software Collection" contains drivers, programming interfaces, LabVIEW VI's as well as the professional data acquisition software NextView 4 for the DAQ hardware of bmcm.

In addition to the commonly used 32-bit version, Windows 7 also provides a 64-bit installation.

Changing to the 64-bit version requires drivers and programs which run in the environment. This has been successfully tested for the software of BMC Messsysteme GmbH: The 64-bit driver from bmcm is automatically recognized during installation and all programs are compatible.

Under Windows 7, however, only signed 64-bit drivers can be installed. From version 4.4, drivers from bmcm are also provided with a digital signature. This electronic safety marking indicates the manufacturer of the software and guarantees that the device driver has not been changed. Driver signing is a reasonable protection against malware but no certification (i.e. being tested by Microsoft).

In the development of Windows 7, a lot has been invested to improve the USB bus interface and the new PCI Express (PCIe) technology in order to increase the performance of these interfaces during operation - a confirmation for the manufacturer of internal and external DAQ systems, since BMC Messsysteme GmbH places great emphasis on the development of USB devices, like the USB-AD16f, and PCIe cards, such as the PCIe-BASE.

The bmcm "Software Collection 4.4" with Windows 7 support was released in June 2010 and can be downloaded from the website of BMC Messsysteme GmbH.
