New Service to Benefit Veterans, Disabled, and Older Adults

Magnolia Manor of Marion County now offers an Adult Day Program for older adults with Alzheimer's, dementia, or chronic disease or illness and adults with developmental disabilities and other health-related issues that increase care needs.

Buena Vista, GA, July 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Magnolia Manor of Marion County announces today a new service available to veterans as well as disabled and older adults. The Magnolia Manor Adult Day Program is the newest service to be provided on the Buena Vista campus.

Magnolia Manor’s Adult Day Program offers activities, socialization, medication management, supervised care, assistance with daily living activities such as bathing and grooming, and nutritious meals and snacks, to accommodate special diets if needed. With operational hours of Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., this new program is designed to promote physical and mental well-being for both disabled and senior adults as well as give a temporary reprieve to caregivers.

Many do not know adult day health services are more affordable than most other health care services and many qualify for assistance from programs such as Community Care and SOURCE (Service Options Utilizing Resources in Community Environments). Additionally, veterans who meet certain criteria may qualify for aid and attendance allowance to help cover the expense of adult day health services. This is potentially a huge benefit for veterans who have served in active war. According to the Veteran Aid website, “This pension program allows for Veterans and surviving spouses who require the regular attendance of another person to assist in eating, bathing, dressing, undressing, medication dosing, or taking care of the needs of nature to receive additional monetary benefits.”

Candidates for adult day programs also includes those in need of socialization or functional assistance as well as those who suffer physical or cognitive challenges or are in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. The new program will be housed in the former physician’s office on the Magnolia Manor campus directly behind the dialysis clinic. If you or a loved one feel you can benefit from services offered by their adult day program or would like more information, please contact Barbara Mitchell at (229) 649-2331 or visit in-person 349 Geneva Road, Buena Vista.
