About The Breast Cancer Site

The Breast Cancer Site is part of the GreaterGood Network of websites that offers the public an opportunity to support causes they care about at no cost to them.

Launched in October 2000, The Breast Cancer Site provides funding for free mammograms for women in need, breast cancer research, and support for women struggling with the disease through such organizations as National Breast Cancer Foundation, Mayo Clinic (research), Making Memories, Patient Access Network Foundation, and others.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation honored The Breast Cancer Site in 2009 for contributing more than $1,000,000 to their free mammograms for women in need program since 2007.

In October 2009, The Breast Cancer Site started a Million Fan March on Facebook (www.facebook.com/thebreastcancersite). By July 2010, more than 1,000,000 Fans joined the March to digitally walk across Facebook and raise $100,000 for breast cancer research

During the first six months of 2010, the clicks on the pink button provided 1,035 un- and underinsured women with free mammograms (it’s free for site visitors to click, sponsoring advertisers give the donation). An additional 1,627 mammograms were funded by contributions from The Breast Cancer Site store.
