Rosendin Electric Kicks Off Opening of New Virginia Regional Office with Facebook Data Center Project

Industry Veteran Daren Shumate Joins Rosendin Electric as Director, East Coast Operations, to Manage Regional Operations.

Arlington, VA, July 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Rosendin Electric, the nation’s largest private electrical contractor and a 100-percent employee-owned company, today announced that the company has opened a new east coast office location in Arlington, Virginia. Daren Shumate, a 20-year electrical industry veteran, has been named to head the office as Director, East Coast Operations.

The first assignment for Rosendin Electric’s new east coast operation will be the construction of a new Facebook Ashburn ASH4 Data Center. This project is located on the Digital Realty Trust campus in Ashburn, Virginia, another Rosendin Electric client. Rosendin Electric has a longstanding relationship with Facebook and has been the lead electrical contractor for a dozen similar build-outs, including Facebook’s new Oregon Data Center in Prineville. The Ashburn data center is the first project for Facebook that Rosendin Electric has undertaken on the eastern seaboard.

“The mid-Atlantic construction business is rebounding, and it offers some exciting opportunities for Rosendin Electric,” said Bill Mazzetti, Vice President, Engineering & Chief Engineer for Rosendin Electric. “Rosendin Electric is one of the few electrical contractors to offer the diverse expertise in mission-critical data centers, telecommunications, renewable energy with wind and solar, health care, prefab and preconstruction, commercial and government projects, and other specialty construction. And with a regional expert like Daren to guide operations, we are confident we will build the same reputation for innovation and unparalleled customer service we have established in the west.”

Shumate brings more than 20 years of professional experience in design, design management, and construction of large complex electrical-intensive construction projects to Rosendin Electric’s mid-Atlantic operation. During his career, he has managed the design and overseen the construction of over three million square feet of data center projects. Before joining Rosendin Electric, he was vice president of RTKL, an architectural design and planning engineering firm. Shumate also served as president of DJS Consulting, as well as working with EYP Mission Critical Facilities and Jacobs Sverdrup (now Jacobs Engineering).

Shumate is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) and the Architectural Engineering Institute, actively participates on the Architectural Engineering Professional Engineering Exam Development Committee for the National Council of Examiners of Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES), and serves on the Kansas State University Architectural Engineering Advisory Council. Shumate holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University.
