NSCS Awards Southeastern Louisiana University Student Scholarship to Study in Spain

Jennie Chantel Stewart, a junior at Southeastern Louisiana University has been awarded The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) Scholar Abroad Scholarship for the summer 2010 semester.

Washington, DC, July 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) has awarded Louisiana resident Jennie Stewart the Summer 2010 NSCS Scholar Abroad Scholarship. Stewart, a junior, double majoring in English Education and Spanish Education at Southeastern Louisiana University, will be studying Spanish in Valencia, Spain.

“We’re pleased to reward Jennie for her dedication to education and community through this opportunity to study abroad experience in Valencia,” said Stephen E. Loflin, Executive Director and Founder of NSCS. “Her desire to expand her knowledge within her majors and better understand the Spanish language in order to best teach in the future truly made her application stand out. We are proud to help her represent her school, community, and the NSCS.”

The Scholar Abroad Scholarship is presented to one outstanding NSCS member each semester to help the student with his or her study abroad experience. NSCS awards $5,000 in the spring and fall semesters, and $2,500 in the summer. Over 800 applications are received for this scholarship each year.

Stewart chose Valencia, Spain for her education as she has always been fascinated by the country. In her application, Stewart indicated that pursuing a career as a Spanish teacher has been a lifelong dream since preschool. Through the program she hopes to improve her Spanish and experience the unique culture of Valencia.
