Rogers’ historical novel, Will and Dena: Love and Life in World War II was published last fall and depicts fighting in the "Little Battle of the Bulge" 65 years ago during World War II inside Italy between American and German forces. Meet the author at these Borders stores:

Set in North Carolina’s Central Piedmont and Italy, the novel is a story of young lovers struggling to triumph over parental mate selection, Southern mores, and the hardships of war. In spite of opposition, Lena Horne-look-alike Dena is determined to give her heart to Will, the reluctant soldier.

The novel breaks new ground when Will serves under American Army Major General Edward M. Almond in the 92nd Infantry Division (Buffalo Division). Author Bob Rogers reveals why Almond’s men regarded him as their second enemy after the Germans. Following the war, noted military historians Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. and Ulysses Lee declared General Almond’s strategies and polices to be “a recipe for disaster.”

Since its release, Will and Dena has garnered high acclaim from readers and reviewers.
