The Club Declared the Winner of the Which Wich Tournament 2010 in D’Iberville, Mississippi

Biloxi, MS, July 21, 2010 --(PR.com)-- A group of loyal Which Wich fans in D’Iberville, Mississippi, affectionately known as the Which Wich Warriors, recently wrapped up the Which Wich Tournament 2010, in which 50 sandwiches were pitted against each other in a March Madness-style competition. Beginning January 6, judges convened once a week to see which sandwiches would advance to the next round. After six months and one day of fierce competition, on July 7, the club defeated pork tenderloin in a close 5-4 vote.

Which Wich, an award-winning national sandwich concept, offers 51 varieties of customizable, toasted “wiches,” from the signature Wicked®, loaded with five meats and three cheeses, to unique items such as the Elvis Wich with peanut butter, honey, and banana. For the purposes of the Which Wich Tournament 2010, the Wicked was benched, leaving an even 50 competitors.

“Hey, we’re not heroes. We’re just everyday folks who love to eat sandwiches,” says tournament ringleader James Wheeler, who received the Which Wich tournament bracket from Gulf Coast Community Design Studio colleague Vince Baudoin during a Secret Santa exchange in December 2009. Last year Wheeler and his colleagues tried all 51 wiches at the Which Wich at 11516 Lamey Rd., near their office. But they decided 2010 was the year to crown a Which Wich tournament champion using Baudoin’s killer board. Baudoin and Wheeler documented the team’s progress on their blogs, http://vbaudoin.wordpress.com and http://whichwich.tumblr.com/.

During the competition, members of the GCCDS paired off and selected two sandwiches from a matchup. Together the team decided which superior sandwich would make it to the next round. In the semi-finals, pork tenderloin edged past Turkeywich®, thanks in no small part to the salacious addition of barbecue sauce. In the opposite bracket, the club defeated caprese in a major upset. Judges credit the club’s secret weapon: coleslaw. In the end, though, pork tenderloin was no match for the club.

“We are so thankful for all of our guests, but I think this story demonstrates our customers’ enthusiasm for Which Wich,” says Richard Zahler, owner of the D’Iberville Which Wich. “These guys are positive, articulate ambassadors for our brand.”
