Dr. Leigh-Davis Does Not Apologize; Rather She Qualifies Her Remarks on U.S. Immigration Law

After much backlash, and even threats, Dr. Leigh-Davis explains her views on U.S. immigration law, during her weekly radio talk show “The Real Deal.”

Los Angeles, CA, July 21, 2010 --(PR.com)-- On Wednesday, June 30th, 2010, during a live episode of her radio talk show “The Real Deal,” Dr. Leigh-Davis, a Yuin University law professor, described her solution to the U.S. immigration problems. More specifically, Dr. Leigh-Davis stated, “The only thing that will stop people from crossing the Mexican-American border is to put snipers on the border and have sharp shooters on the border. Unfortunately there is going to be a casualty. But once we have a casualty, or two, the word will spread and we will not have thousands of people a night, running back and forth over that border.”

Not surprisingly, many people were offended by Dr. Leigh-Davis’ statements, especially Mexican-Americans. “I received death threats, and also, several people with what appeared to be Mexican names, said they should shoot me,” confided Dr. Leigh-Davis. “I couldn’t sleep, I was so scared,” Dr. Leigh-Davis continued.

Immediately, Dr. Leigh-Davis used her website, the internet, and email to explain her views, and justify what she called a “misunderstanding.” “By no means was I targeting Mexican-Americans. Anyone who knows about the border problems, also knows, people from all over the world use the Mexican-American border for easy access to the United States. In fact, my comments were mainly directed at terrorists who have, and continue to, illegally come to the U.S. via the Mexican-American border,” Dr. Leigh-Davis explained.

Subsequently, on Wednesday, July 7th, 2010, towards the end of the next episode of her live radio talk show “The Real Deal,” Dr. Leigh-Davis took several minutes “qualifying” her remarks on U.S. immigration, but refused to apologize. “An apology was not necessary, because I never said anything directly or indirectly about Mexican-Americans. Everything was just a misunderstanding. My comments were mainly directed at terrorists,” elaborated Dr. Leigh-Davis.

Apparently, Dr. Leigh-Davis’ qualifying explanation has been accepted by the general public. Dr. Leigh-Davis said she has received no further threats, and some of her listeners have actually apologized to her, for the misunderstanding.

Dr. Leigh-Davis’ weekly radio show “The Real Deal” airs Live every Wednesday at 10:00 PM Pacific time, and thereafter, is archived at the website for Blog Talk Radio. More information can also be found at Dr. Leigh-Davis’ website.
