The Medal Play Golf Tour "Bring a Guest Day" Was a Huge Success

Palm Desert, CA, July 21, 2010 --( The Medal Play Golf Tour played their 7th event of the season at Desert Willow’s Mountain View course on Sunday. This event was the first annual “Bring a Guest Day” where members could invite a guest or any interested golfer could enter the event without a membership to experience a tournament firsthand. “Despite the hot weather the golfers had fun today,” stated tour director Blane Freytag. “We had 11 guests come out today and quite a few of them were in the money” added Freytag. Member Paul Jurkofsky summed up the day by stating “These events keep getting better and better, and they were good to start with!”

Jacob Yousef broke thru in the A Flight after a top finish at the Medal Play Open at Classic Club last month. Jacob posted an even par net 72 for his first win of the season. Steady Shaun Clark finished second with a solid net 76 and guest Patrick Greenwood took 3rd.

In the B Flight, Thomas Tennison also won his first tournament of the season with a net 69. Thomas will enter the “Fall Finish” playoffs in the A Flight as this score moved his handicap to the A Flight range. Jay Rein put his approach on 18 in the water to finish 2 shots back with a net 71. Jay will have an opportunity to battle Thomas again in the A Flight as he will be joining Thomas in the A Flight for the playoffs. Charlie Waddell posted a solid net 74 in the heat for 3rd and probably won’t miss Thomas or Jay in the B Flight.

Lee Woodard outlasted his playing partners in the D Flight and cruised to another first place finish. This is Lee’s second win of the season and gives him good momentum heading into the playoffs.

Thomas Vail spanked his playing partners to win by 5 shots posting a net 66. “I was embarrassed by my play (net 79) at Classic Club and was determined to play my best at this event,” remarked Vail. Runner up David Onken shot a net 71 and Bob Costa took 3rd with a smooth net 72.

Michael Tocchini bounced back from a rough outing last month to post another win with a net 74. Michael should have good momentum heading into the playoffs. Guest Greg Widman was a shot back with a net 75 and Carl Bachelor took 3rd shooting net 79.
