)-- Over 300 participants turned out for the camp during the holiday weekend at Behrman Stadium in New Orleans.
Campers, ages 7-16, enjoyed a free, full day of activities, including agility drills, offensive and defensive fundamentals and much more. Campers were treated to breakfast, lunch, great gift bags and autographs with the NFL players. Royal and Clark were joined by several of their NFL colleagues and professional cheerleaders, who support their mission to inspire and give back.
Participating players included: Takeo Spikes (49ers), Abe Elam (Browns), Rock Cartwright (Raiders), Santana Dotson (former Saints), Patrick Surtain (Chiefs), Felton Huggins (Bills), George Wilson (Bills), Howard Green (Redskins), Keyaron Fox (Steelers), Derrick Morgan (Titans) and Joe Whitt (Green Bay Coach). The cheer camp was led by Deryn Debirgney, formerly a cheerleader for the Saints and the Cowboys.
“We want these kids to see that all it takes to succeed in life is hard work and motivation.” Royal said, “We both vowed that if we ever achieved our dream of playing in the NFL, we would come back and make a difference in the lives of the youth in the city we love!”
