The Louisville Orchestra Brings LIFE to the IdeaFestival

Louisville, KY, July 25, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Louisville Orchestra Presents LIFE: A Journey Through Time

A Brown-Forman L.O. WOW! Event

Saturday, October 2, 2010 • 8:30pm • Whitney Hall

On Saturday, October 2 at 8:30pm the Louisville Orchestra will perform LIFE: A Journey Through Time at Whitney Hall, an artistic collaboration with the IdeaFestival and the Louisville Science Center. LIFE: A Journey Through Time interprets the magical beauty and enduring miracle of the history of life on our planet in seven orchestrated movements, from the Earth’s earliest beginnings to its present-day diversity, in a production that merges the photographic arts, music and science. Frans Lanting, award-winning National Geographic photographer, has assembled hundreds of breathtaking images exquisitely choreographed to an original score by Philip Glass. Immediately after the presentation, a panel discussion will be held with experts from the Louisville Science Center and select performers from the performance, including guest conductor Carolyn Kuan.

This presentation is part of the Louisville Orchestra’s Brown-Forman WOW! series – combining “unexpected” presentations with live symphony orchestration.

This program has been presented world-wide at a variety of forums including the annual World Science Festival in New York; Bolzano, Italy's annual TransArt Festival and the Wild9 World Wilderness Congress in Merida, Mexico.

“ … a pleasurable feast for the eyes and the ears.” – Mark Stryker Detroit Free Press

“ My favorite moment was when the percussion section first kicked in, corresponding to the outrageous innovation of body shapes about half a billion years ago known as the Cambrian explosion. Then again, judging by the oh's and ah's of the audience, the evolutionary transition from sea to land may have been a bigger hit.” – John Bohannon Science magazine

Subscriptions for the Brown-Forman L.O. WOW! series range from $65-$185 and are available by calling 502-587-8681 or visiting LouisvilleOrchestra.org. Single tickets , on sale August 2, range from $15-$50.
