Dallas, TX, August 01, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Shermco Charities, an organization funded by employees of Shermco Industries, recently had customers “scrambling” at Frisco Lakes Golf Club in a charity golf tournament to benefit the Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation.

The VFW Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to “support non-political programs that secure, manage and distribute resources to improve the lives of veterans, military service personnel, their families and communities.”

Players from various areas of the electrical power distribution industry took part in a spiritedly competitive day of golf and games accompanied by “goody bags,” raffle prizes and an awards ceremony dinner.

“We love an opportunity to show our appreciation to our customers, and if we can do that while also raising money for a fine organization like the VFW Foundation, then it’s definitely an opportunity we won’t miss,” said Stephanie Owen, of Shermco Industries.

The event raised $3,500 to go towards the VFW Foundation’s charitable efforts, including a program that provides phone cards to military personnel abroad so they can easily stay in touch with their families.

“Within our industry, there are many people with a military background, so there is a genuine understanding of the importance of an organization like the VFW Foundation, who provides invaluable support to our veterans and soldiers overseas,” said Jim White, training director for Shermco Industries and retired United States military service member.
