Survey Indicates Americans Are Ignoring Gambling Ban

A website recently conducted a quick straw poll, and found remarkable results showing a large percentage of Americans still gambling, or willing to gamble online.

New York, NY, December 19, 2006 --(PR.com)-- It seemed that Online Poker had breathed it's last breath in the US recently when Senator Bill First forced through a law called the Unlawful Gambling Act.

This law apeared to make online gaming, including all forms of Poker, illegal.

Players were up in arms, and protests started immediatly, and continues now, including some high level protesters, including leading film and sports stars, journalists and even Republican politicians.

However, many Americans are still finding ways to square up to each other on the virtual felt.

Although some companies like Party Poker stopped accepting US players, some have welcomed them with open arms, due to not being public companies, or being based offshore.

To see how many people were still participating in the US,  Poker Affiliates United, who maintain websites keeping players informed of changes in the law, sent out an email to 160 poker players, asking them,

1) Do you still play online Poker ?

and

2) If you do not play online anymore, would you, if you knew where to play?

A massive 56% said they are still playing online, while 78% of people who were not currently playing said that they would play, if they knew where would accept them.

These players are using blogs set up, like http://unitedstatesofpoker.blogspot.com to find out where they can still play, as the blog can be changed quickly, and have up to date information on all sites, currently accepting US customers.

So it would appear that all Frist's law change has done is to drive poker players to different sites, based offshore.

But one thing's for sure... It hasn't stopped them playing!
