An Exciting New Voice in Horror and Suspense

Six friends. A college reunion twenty years in the making. An isolated island cut-off from the mainland in a winter storm. One tragic secret holds them together. The wrath of one madman will tear them apart.

Long Island, NY, December 20, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Outskirts Press, Inc. is pleased to introduce an exciting new voice in horror and suspense. The Literary Six is a gripping page-turner that blends elements of mystery and suspense with the visceral imagery of horror. This debut novel by Long Island author Vince Liaguno promises to bring the celluloid images of classic slasher films to the printed page. He describes his new work as “a cross between Agatha Christie’s Ten Little Indians and Friday the 13th…with a twist.” That twist is Liaguno’s emphasis on character development and his injection of some rather unconventional elements into what is too-often seen as simply a youth market. There is something here for every horror fan, from those who are completely new to the genre to fans who, like Liaguno, have had “a lifelong obsession” with the art form.

She could feel the pasty warmth of her own blood soak through the sheer fabric of her blouse and trickle down her breasts, stomach, and bare legs as she fell. As she instinctively tried to focus on a comforting object in the room during what she knew were the last remaining moments of her life, Melissa’s view was eclipsed by the looming figure of her attacker. Her fading eyes traveled up the dirty denim jeans, past the blood-soaked flannel shirt, and stopped at the fuzzy face of her slayer.

A mask...? Yes...a horrible, dreadful mask...

Mr. Liaguno is a nationally published freelance writer and interviewer whose celebrity subjects have included Jamie Lee Curtis, Isabella Rossellini, the late Psycho star Janet Leigh, and Oscar® winners Philip Seymour Hoffman, Kathy Bates, and Olympia Dukakis. Born in Pennsylvania and raised in the Edison and Princeton areas of New Jersey, Liaguno has fond recollections of “buddy days” with his dad, during which the elder Liaguno introduced him to the world of movies. It was the beginning of his lifelong obsession with horror films, like Friday the 13th and Halloween, which served as inspiration for this homage to the slasher genre, The Literary Six. Liaguno currently lives on Long Island, New York with his partner of 18 years.

Mr. Liaguno will embark on a cross-country tour in 2006–7 to promote his book at major horror conventions.
