Christian Military Wives Editor Wins Two National Awards

Pittsburgh, PA, August 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Two books authored by Christian Military Wives’ online magazine editor Jocelyn Green won national awards in the 2010 Military Writers Society of America (MWSA) contest in the spiritual/religious category. Battlefields & Blessings: Stories of Faith and Courage from the War in Iraq & Afghanistan (AMG Publishers 2009), co-authored with Jane Hampton Cook and John Croushorn, won the Gold Medal, and Faith Deployed: Daily Encouragement for Military Wives (Moody 2008), written with contributions from 14 other Christian military wives, won the Bronze Medal.

The awards ceremony will take place at the MWSA Conference in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Saturday, October 2, at 6p.m. “I am so grateful for the recognition of the amazing stories from all the faithful individuals represented in both of my books,” says Green. “These stories have the power to change lives. I, for one, am a different person for having written them. I pray that each person who reads them will be changed, for the better, as well.”

Jocelyn Green, the wife of a former Coast Guard officer, is an award-winning freelance writer. Her Web site for military wives, www.faithdeployed.com, won third place in a national contest held by the Evangelical Press Association in 2010. Jocelyn was contributing editor to Battlefields & Blessings: Stories of Faith and Courage from World War 2 (AMG Publishers 2009), which won the 2009 Silver Medal from MWSA.

“Faith Deployed would make a great gift to give to those who have relatives overseas in the war areas or not,” says Rev. Bill McDonald Jr., founder of The Military Writer's Society of America. “The book is heavy with biblical quotes and lots of real life advice from wives representing all the military branches of service. I highly recommend this book and suggest that all those who have any military connections buy a copy and keep it in your personal library. It is good insurance against all those worries that may grip you when you are waiting for your loved ones to return back home.” McDonald is an author, minister and Purple Heart Vietnam Veteran.

McDonald calls Battlefields & Blessings: Stories of Faith and Courage from Iraq & Afghanistan the best in the series. “This book is definitely good for the soul of the reader,” he says. “It is an easy-to-read accounting of those who lives have been touched by this current war on terrorism. It is heartwarming, as well at times, a little heart-wrenching. This is one book that I proudly display on my own personal bookshelf. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who has military people in their lives. I even recommend it to those who are just patriotic or love a book of great faith.”
