Photographs of 2010 Surfers Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Huntington Beach Released by the Committee to Re-Elect Jennifer McGrath

The Committee to Re-Elect Jennifer McGrath City Attorney of Huntington Beach announces the release of over 60 photographs of the 2010 Surfers Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Huntington Beach, California, held in conjunction with the Hurley US Open of Surfing.

Huntington Beach, CA, August 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The 2010 Surfers Hall of Fame Induction took place on August 6, 2010, in Huntington Beach, California, coinciding with the Hurley US Open of Surfing. Stephanie Gilmore, Ian Cairns, and Randy Lewis joined the ranks of other surfing legends who have placed their hands and feet in wet cement in the walkway in front of local surf shop Huntington Surf and Sport.

Elected City official Jennifer McGrath was in attendance at the ceremony in support of the Surfers Hall of Fame. The Committee to Re-Elect Jennifer McGrath City Attorney of Huntington Beach has announced the release of over 60 photographs from the 2010 Surfers Hall of Fame Induction ceremony. The Surfers Hall of Fame walkway "connects the generations of surfers with a lasting tribute and permanent public showcase for the achievements of those who have shaped and revolutionized the sport" of surfing. Huntington Beach, Surf City USA, is the home of the Surfers Hall of Fame and the host for the annual US Open of Surfing.

Stephanie Gilmore is an Australian professional surfer and triple world champion on the Women's ASP World Tour (2007, 2008, 2009). Gilmore is currently on the Women's 2010 ASP World Tour. She has won three of the four events so far on the tour—Roxy Pro Gold Coast, Bells Beach Surf Classic, and the Commonwealth Bank Beachley Classic.

Ian Cairns, born in 1952, is a former champion surfer who was also influential in establishing the world professional surfing circuit and particularly the World Championship Tour. In 1975 Cairns and fellow Australian Peter Townend devised a rating and scoring system for surfing events. In 1979 he moved to California and with Townend formed the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA).

Randy Lewis, a Huntington Beach local, is a surfing champion and surfboard shaper. After winning various surfing championships throughout the 1970s, Randy Lewis ran his own surf shop, the Randy Lewis Surf Center, in the decade from 1977 to 1987 shaping surfboards for a number of surfing legends.
