Senate Hopeful Prompts Pledge

Political newbie, Mike East, gave the Fancy Farm establishment a surprise when he pointed out the fact that the Pledge of Allegiance had been omitted from the Western Kentucky annual political gathering.

Paducah, KY, August 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Last Saturday, August 7th, at the Western Kentucky Fancy Farm Picnic, Mike East, the Republican State Senate Candidate for District 2, interrupted his own speech to remind the crowd that they had over-looked reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. East, who is new to political campaigns, seems to have a flair for surprises. Stepping to the podium, toward the end of a long string of political speeches, East began by pointing out that the meeting organizers had failed to include the Pledge of Allegiance. He then invited Governor Beshear to lead to pledge. Beshear proceeded to lead the pledge.

Mike East identified himself as a first time candidate. He has owned a small business for the past 15 years and is also a third generation union coal miner. East, a divorced father of two children, said his campaign was motivated by the children of Kentucky who have been affected by the state’s divorce courts.

About Mike East: Although running as a Republican East is the political outsider. He has strong ties to the hard working "blue collar" Kentuckians. He has worked in the United Mine Workers, River Queen Strip Mine in Greenville KY., and the Oil and Atomic Workers Union. He is presently on permit with the International Union of Operating Engineers and is a crane operator. East is also the inventor of the “Electronic Water Level” and has been running his own business, “Digital Leveling Systems”, for the past 15 years. The heart of his campaign crosses all political party lines as he looks to bring reform into the family courts of Kentucky. Learn more at www.mikeeast.com
