Happy Fish Swim School Offers SwimSafer Program as Part of National Initiative

Singapore, Singapore, August 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- As part of a nationwide swim-safety initiative, Happy Fish Swim School, an all-ages swim instruction academy located in Singapore, is offering the SwimSafer Program. The SwimSafer Program, as part of a mandatory syllabus for Singapore swim schools, is an improved and expanded combination of both the National Survival Swimming Award (or NASSA) training and the Learn-to-Swim curriculum. Special emphasis is placed on lifesaving swimming skills as a safeguard against drowning, though competitive swimming skills are also introduced.

“The SwimSafer Program is designed to give the student an all-around water education,” remarked Jay Tan, owner of Happy Fish Swim School. “The program was introduced in July, and the Singapore National Water Safety Council's decision to enhance water safety education couldn't be more timely. Basic water survival skills are essential, and applicable to a wide variety of circumstances.”

A distinctive feature Happy Fish Swim School has brought to the SwimSafer Program is a novel approach to pacing: the course at Happy Fish is divided into twelve lessons spread over three months. This incremental, progressive approach may be appropriate for students, particularly novices, who prefer a more gradual introduction to swimming.

Lessons are offered for adults and children of all ages. There is also a special ladies-only section, which utilizes female instructors to create a nurturing and safe atmosphere for first-timers. All SwimSafer courses are organized into six stages, with the emphasis again being on easy, step-by-step advancement. General water comfort, coordinated breathing, swim stroke education and improvement, and water rescue skills are just some of the topics covered in the twelve lessons of the SwimSafer Program.

“SwimSafer is a great way to increase water comfort, and to discover the fun and physical health benefits of swimming,” said Jay. “However, the SwimSafer Program's greatest benefit is its potential to literally save lives. And that's why Happy Fish is so committed to offering this important program.”
