New Release Urges New Ways to Celebrate Holy Days, Holidays; Book by Bill Smith, Published by Dog Ear Publishing

Ocean Shores, WA, August 19, 2010 --( This book is a call for us to heighten our remembrance and appreciation for the nation’s holidays and Christina holy days – to go beyond how we normally celebrate these occasions. Although holidays refresh us for our work lives, they play a bigger role in our lives “when they allow us to reflect upon who we are and what meaning our lives have, not only for ourselves but for our world,” the author writes. Holidays and holy days not only provide a framework for family traditions and church rituals, but they can enrich and renew our spirits.

Holidays and Holy Days, published by Dog Ear Publishing, offers the startling suggestion that holidays and holy days let us reflect on our lives so we see something bigger than ourselves and can work to create a more loving and hopeful kind of world. The book shares the author’s views through a collection of his sermons, focusing first on secular holidays and then on religious holidays. His hopes are clear: Deepening our observances of the holidays might not only deepen our appreciation of the day itself but our sense of the sacred ground on which we stand while observing them.
