SIGNARAMA Peterborough Partners with Scene Media for Citybanners Venture

Peterborough, Canada, August 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- SIGNARAMA Peterborough co-owner Morgan Smith knows the sign industry. After five years in the business, Smith realized one of his franchise’s most popular products was being under-used, even wasted and was left to face the sometimes brutal Canadian weather.

“Pole banners are a great publicity tool for organizations and events,” Smith said. “However, they are often time-stamped causing them to be out-dated and made essentially useless after the event happens.”

Additionally, the standby installation techniques and pole banner hardware did little to protect the banners from harsh weather conditions. This is where the partnership with Scene Media came into play. According to Smith, Scene Media has developed a wind spill technology hardware system that allows the pole banners to flex in the wind – saving the pole and banners from inclement weather.

“The Citybanners product is guaranteed to last through even the toughest weather conditions,” said Smith. “We stand behind our product 100% and offer servicing and maintenance as well as design support.”

Additionally, a feature and selling point of Citybanners is the underlying environmental focus of the program. Citybanners plans to sustain an ongoing supply of used banners and raw material to provide work for a sewing micro business in the Philippines. Here, the banners will be re-used to craft functional, durable and eco-friendly bags and totes.

“Because our banners are made of such durable material and are very aesthetically pleasing, it makes sense to somehow re-use them,” said Smith. “Once these banners have outlived their use for events, they can then be reused to create beautiful bags.”

Smith plans to offer the Citybanners concept to other SIGNARAMA franchises throughout North America who will then sell the Citybanners product to their clients. Currently, Citybanners has approached SIGNARAMA locations throughout North America. Some franchises that have already signed on to the concept include BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, NB, Michigan, Kentucky, North Carolina, Florida and California.

“The response from the SIGNARAMA owners has been positive,” said Smith. “They understand and appreciate what we are trying to do and want to implement our system in their own businesses in order to help their clients achieve maximum use out of their banners as well as become good stewards of the environment.”
