James Buncher Joins Board of Directors for Satori World Medical

Buncher Brings Nearly 40 Years of Health Care Management Experience to Satori Board

San Diego, CA, August 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Satori World Medical, the leader in medical travel, announces the appointment of health care management leader James Buncher to its board of directors.

Spending nearly 40 years in the formation, financing and delivery of health care, Buncher will provide strategic input on the development of Satori and the overall Satori Experience™.

“Jim’s joining the board comes at an exceptional time of growth for Satori,” said Steven Lash, president and CEO, Satori World Medical. “Jim has experience in successfully leading health care organizations, including his most recent position as CEO of Safeguard Health Enterprises – a dental and vision insurance company. We are expanding our dental network worldwide and his expertise in the dental industry will prove to be valuable in the build-out of this program.”

Lash added that Buncher’s reputation for quality and customer service is perfectly aligned with Satori World Medical’s core values of providing the highest quality care for its patients.

Prior to retiring as chairman and CEO of SafeGuard Health Enterprises, where he lead the sale of the company to MetLife in 2008, Buncher was President, CEO and a director of SmileCare, a dental practice management company, predominantly operating in Southern California.

Additionally, Buncher was the founding president and CEO of CIGNA Health Plans, a medical HMO company he grew into the then largest investor owned HMO in the country. He also served on the board of directors of Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore representing CIGNA. He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Illinois. Following undergraduate school, he passed the Illinois Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination and earned a master’s degree in accounting, also from the University of Illinois.

“Throughout my career I have been committed to aligning myself with only the best the health care industry has to offer,” said Buncher. “I have carefully reviewed Satori World Medical’s quality assurance program, its innovative business model and commitment to putting quality patient care at the forefront. From start-to-finish, Satori World Medical stands out as paving the way for excellence in the medical travel industry and I am happy to be part of the organization.”

Satori World Medical provides access to its global network of board-certified doctors and Joint Commission International (JCI)-accredited hospitals through a high-quality integrated program, which is easily added to any health plan, reducing the costs of surgical procedures by an average of 40-80 percent when compared to the same procedures performed in a U.S. hospital. Its business model is specifically designed to deliver high-quality health care services, share the tremendous cost savings with plan sponsors and their employees and to coordinate all medical and travel services for individuals who need care.
