The Thrill Lives on — Tribute to the King of Pop

Riverside Downtown Partnership partners with the California Riverside Ballet and the City of Riverside to pay tribute to the King of Pop.

Riverside, AR, August 27, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The California Riverside Ballet has planned a special free family friendly event on Saturday, August 28th from 4 to 6 p.m. in front of the Historic Riverside County Courthouse. The event, entitled, ‘The Thrill lives on,’ includes a Michael Jackson costume contest and a dance class to learn the choreography to ‘Thriller.’ The event will culminate as guests attempt to make history by assembling the largest documented crowd of Thriller performers in Southern California. The Thriller inspired performance will be videotaped and posted on YouTube.

RDP in conjunction with the City, and the California Riverside Ballet will offer pre-event activities on the Civic Plaza on Main between University and Mission Inn avenues to help extend the event time frame and attract people to the downtown business core. Pre-thriller event festivities will kick off at 1 and continue through 4 p.m. with live music featuring the TMK All Star band performing some of Michael Jackson hit songs. There will also be face painting for kids, offering them an opportunity to be ghoulishly made up.

The Metropolitan Museum has also agreed to move their Tribble races to the Civic Plaza from 1 to 3:30 p.m. running a race each half-hour. For those who don’t remember the Tribbles from Star Trek, they were the cute fluffy balls who multiplied and wound up everywhere. The Tribbles are noise activated, with five competing at one time and the first one off the mat named as the winner. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.
