Internet Safety in America

Washington, DC, December 29, 2006 --(PR.com)-- In light of a recent report released by the Youth Internet Safety Task Force and the promotion of “Project Safe Childhood” by US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, the Profiles Series announces the production of a special edition episode focusing on the Internet, and ways in which parents, educators, law enforcement, and technology can help keep America’s youth safe from, “The Tangled Web.”

Executive Producer Wali Waiters says that in this day and age the Internet is a very valuable tool for the youth in America, this segment will help educate and inform parents on how to keep their children accountable as the surf the net.

According to the US Department of Justice’s Internet Crimes Against Children task force, there are now more children and teenagers in America using the Internet than adults, and more pornographers and sexual predators preying on them than ever before. “The Tangled Web” will provide viewers an in-depth look at the most effective ways in which parents can protect their children from the potential perils of the worldwide web, and how both the private sector and law enforcement can and are working together to make the Internet safe for our nations youth. Senior Producer Ed Shaland says, "This issue affects families from every demographic and we want to educate them on the available options to keep their kids safe.”

US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales likens the threat the youth of America face through the Internet and our country's need to fight that threat to that of a war, and has gone on record to say that, “In the hands of a predator, (the Internet) is a powerful weapon.” Attorney General Gonzales has also stated that the internet “does pose a serious threat to the children of America.” It is with this reality in mind that The Profiles Series is producing this unique and critical program in its efforts to help shed much needed light in the dark nether reaches of the internet.

Their mission is to create quality programming which will inform, educate and enlighten their viewers both nationally and internationally.
