Kilns Ramp Up at Rings & Things

Spokane, WA, September 02, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Kilns are ramping up at Rings & Things. The jewelry-supply company has added to its selection of kilns and firing supplies to meet artisans’ needs with versatility, controlled firing and compact sizes.

Kilns at Rings & Things range from an ultralight “beehive” kiln, with a three-inch-diameter ceramic-fiber-lined firing area, to larger models with up to 9-inch-deep firing chambers made of firebricks. Maximum firing temperatures of 1550º to 2350º Fahrenheit (843º to 1288º Celsius) are possible with these kilns, some of which reach 1700º in as little as 20 minutes. All kilns from R&T can be used with a controller for more precise maintenance of temperature, useful in techniques such as Keum-Boo. The three largest kilns come with a Sentry Xpress 3-key controller for this purpose.

These kilns all handle silver metal clays (also sold by Rings & Things) such as Art Clay™ Silver. The larger models also fit COPPRclay and BRONZclay firing pans. Other media that can be fired in these kilns, depending on the model, include enamel, ceramics, porcelain, chain, glass, china paint, decals and low-fire ceramics. One model allows use of a window to monitor glass slumping and fusing.

Jewelry makers can fully equip their kiln area with compatible products from Rings & Things: kiln furniture kits, hot gloves, glass separators, kiln wash, haik brushes, safety glasses and firing blankets and boards.

Rings & Things’ full catalog, plus latest supplement, is $5 US (free with orders). Orders accepted 24 hours: http://www.rings-things.com. Phone inquiries: M-F 8-5 Pacific, (800) 366-2156.
