AIMediaComms Delivers Web Accessible Media Relations Software to Epping Forest

London, United Kingdom, September 08, 2010 --(PR.com)-- AIMediaComms has developed an accessible version of its market-leading media relations software, AINewsflash and is delighted to announce that Epping Forest District Council is the first public sector organisation to deploy it..

Web accessibility is an important issue for all UK government organisations, referring to the practice of making websites usable by people of all abilities. Epping Forest District Council, for example, continually strives to improve the accessibility and experience of all visitors to the Councils website, ensuring Government compliance. It is also committed to fairness and equality of access to everyone in respect of the services they provide and the staff they employ.

It is against this background of progressive equal opportunities policies that AIMediaComms decided to develop a version of its media relations software, used by over 300 organisations, that was more accessible, particularly for the visually impaired.

At Epping Forest District Council, for example, the new application integrates with screen-reader technology, and was designed and developed so that all users can have equal access to almost all information and functionality. The goal of a screen reader is to make it appear to the user as if the AIMediaComms software was itself a talking application designed specifically for the visually impaired.

Charlie O’Rourke, Managing Director at AIMediaComms stated "Implementing the latest version of our software at Epping Forest has been a rewarding project. Using our new mobile-enabled site and a screen-reader software application we have ensured that all members of the media relations team can access our application and are able to contribute to the important task of upholding the reputation of the organisation.”

Tom Carne at Epping Forest states “AIMediaComms has shown us that technology offers enormous opportunities to help visually-impaired people access information. We have been impressed with the flexibility of the development and implementation teams at AIMediacomms. As a Communications department we are able to fulfill our goals whilst also complying with the Councils equal opportunities objectives.”
