Double E Promotions Clients, Gerald Smith, Brett Hill and the Downs Family to Perform at the National Quartet Convention, Gospel Music’s Largest Annual Event

Nashville, TN, September 11, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Double E Promotions clients, Gerald Smith, Brett Hill and the Downs Family will be performing in the Artist Spotlight and Regional Artist Showcases. The Showcase schedule runs from 11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. each day in the South Wing Conference of the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center.

Songwriter Gerald Smith is from Statesboro, Georgia, and has resided in Nashville since 1985. A prolific writer, Smith has penned such number one songs as "What Part Of No Don't You Understand" for Lorrie Morgan and "Every Second" for Collin Raye. He has also written songs for George Strait "Just Look At Me", George Jones "The Lone Ranger", Perfect Stranger "Cut Me Off", Johnny Rodriquez "The Bitter Inn", "Behind His Last Goodbye" also by Lorrie Morgan, and many Others. He has performed on stage with Roy Clark, Mike Snyder, Barbara Mandrell, Jerry Reed, Ricky Van Shelton, Waylon Jennings, George Lindsey, Buck Trent, Roy Acuff, Grandpa Jones and many more. He has also appeared on "HeeHaw," The Grand Ole Opry & Nashville Now as the "Georgia Quacker."

Brett was born in Manchester, Tennessee and has spent his whole life as a resident of Tennessee, however, a large part of his life has been spent in other cities, States, and Countries singing for the Lord. Brett has garnered many awards including the King Country 2010 Encourager of The Year, the 2010 award for Outstanding Achievement, and was also named the 2010 Prestigious Entertainer of The Year. Along with this wife April, Brett has been nominated and won multiple awards as songwriters, but the one they hold dearest is the ICM's Music Evangelist of the year. Other awards to his credit include, the 2009 FWSA Songwriter of the Year, the 2009 FWSA Gospel Song of the Year for the heart moving single “Just One Drop”.

The Downs Family is a Southern Gospel music group from Booneville, Mississippi. They have been singing together for years at concerts, churches and special events across the southern United States. Members of The Downs Family are: Scotty and Teresa (Michael) Downs; their daughters, Kayla Wade and Meagan Thomas; and their cousin Will Downs. Rev. Scotty Downs plays the lead guitar, sings, drives for the group, and writes songs.

The National Quartet Convention was founded in 1957 by Gospel Legends, J. D. Sumner, Cecil Blackwood and James Blackwood of The Blackwood Brothers as a three day event originally held in Memphis, Tennessee. Fifty three years later, the NQC has grown tremendously into a six day event with approximately 500 booths where artists, record labels, media entities, booking agents, Christian bookstores, and other industry related organizations display their products and offer their services. The convention will also feature many daily showcases and nightly concerts with many of the greatest Gospel acts of today like Jason Crabb, Booth Brothers and Dailey and Vincent to name a few. This year’s convention will also feature special guest speaker Sarah Palin.

Double E Promotions, headquartered in Booneville, MS and ran by Perry and wife, Vikki Edge, have focused more on the Country Gospel genre over the last couple years, witnessing the fruits of their labor as many of their clients songs have charted on national Christian m­usic charts, most rece­­­ntly promoting Country Gospel Great, Sandra Dee’s single, “Keep The Faith” to number one on the Christian Voice, Christian Country Top 100 Chart for June of 2010 and former Statler Brother, Jimmy Fortune’s “Wrote it In Red” to number one on the Christian Voice, Christian Country Top 100 Chart for December of 09’.
