Mayhew to Receive Prestigious ARIDO Award for CTV Olympic Digital Lounge

Toronto, Canada, September 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In September, the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) will present Mayhew, a Toronto company that focuses on workplace ingenuity, with a prestigious interior design award for their outstanding work on the CTV Olympic Digital Lounge. This contemporary and flexible lounge was designed and created to be used as the “hub” for athlete and celebrity interviews and interaction during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The ARIDO Awards is one of the most highly regarded honours in the interior design community.

Working with CTV on conception and creative, Mayhew interior designers faced the challenge of implementing a functional yet media friendly space within the International Broadcast Centre for interviews, conversations, entertainment, VIP tours and streaming of online information while maintaining the existing room structure. Mayhew wanted to create a flexible space that embodied the spirit of the Olympic Games while showcasing the environmental beauty that Canada has to offer. Using functional interior design techniques and featuring Campfire Paper Tables, flexible Circa Lounge seating and Steelcase media:scape technology, the CTV Olympic Digital Lounge was created and later dubbed the “coolest room” in the IBC complex by VJ personality Matt Wells and others.

As recognized by ARIDO, Mayhew has earned a reputation of being workplace innovators for interior design projects. Mayhew focuses on creating a productive and flexible business environment by incorporating a company’s culture, work processes and business structure. Combining these key ingredients establishes new levels of business efficiency and productivity or, as witnessed by visitors and users of the CTV Olympic Digital Lounge, delivers unparalleled flexibility for temporary and permanent spaces. “The redefinition of physical space can help an organization and its leaders both reflect and advance their business strategies,” said Steve Cascone, VP Design Services for Mayhew. “Having the right workplace can provide a potent tool for work, a productive home for employees and a powerful symbol of change.”

Since 1934, ARIDO has represented interior designers in a variety of specialties, recognizing them for their accomplishments in the public, private and municipal sectors while educating the public on interior design. The ARIDO Awards honour those with Awards of Merit and Awards of Excellence who showcase excellence, innovation and originality in interior design in 11 different categories. This year’s ARIDO Awards ceremony will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex in Toronto.
