Teaching Guide Expands on Book Series Lessons of Compassion and Overcoming Challenges

Barbara Techel, award-winning author and Joyful Paw Prints Press, LLC Publisher of Frankie the Walk ‘N Roll Dog book series now offers a free teaching guide to help teachers expand on valuable life lessons her book series teaches.

Elkhart Lake, WI, September 15, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Teaching our children compassion and kindness can at times be tough in the world we live in today. But sometimes all we have to do is simply show them. That is exactly what Barbara and Frankie, known as the “walk ‘n roll dog” teach through their book series.

To expand on the lessons of her children’s books, Techel and Joyful Paw Prints Press, LLC now offer a free teaching guide. Teachers can download it free of charge from the authors website. Techel encourages teachers to use this teaching guide year after year to expand on the lessons of compassion, overcoming challenges and making a difference.

Frankie is a dachshund who suffered a spinal injury in 2006 which resulted in partial paralysis. She was custom-fitted for a doggie wheelchair and does just about everything she used to do before she hurt herself. She lives life with gusto!

Techel wrote Frankie’s first book, Frankie, the Walk ‘N Roll Dog because people were so fascinated by the little dog with tires. She was frequently asked what happened to Frankie. Children were especially curious. After explaining to a nine year old boy why Frankie is in a wheelchair he said, “Well it does not matter what you look like on the outside, but what is on the inside.” Techel knew in that moment Frankie’s story could have a profound and positive effect on kids.

Techel’s second book in the series, Frankie the Walk ‘N Roll Therapy Dog Visits Libby’s House shares the adventures of Frankie as a certified therapy dog visiting a senior assisted facility monthly where some of the patients have Alzheimer’s or dementia. Frankie teaches us that despite having challenges, we can each give back in our own, unique way and make a difference.

Struggling with a physical challenge can be overwhelming for people and animals alike. But Frankie has a zest for life that will have you cheering and believing that most things are possible. Techel hopes that Frankie’s book series, along with her new teaching guide will help children and adults alike understand that we always have a choice when facing obstacles.
