Portal Unifies Operations at 12 Clinics in Brooklyn, N.Y

Rolling Meadows, IL, September 19, 2010 --( Preferred Health Partners, the major healthcare provider in Brooklyn N.Y. for nearly 50 years, reports that its new HospitalPortal.NET™ Intranet has extensively improved communication and productivity at its 12 clinics. It is the first system-wide Intranet for the multi-specialty group.

HospitalPortal.NET is a leading provider of secure healthcare-specific Intranet sites for electronic information sharing and information publishing. Preferred Health Partners, Brooklyn’s largest multi-specialty group, has 175 doctors and a staff of more than 700 at its 12 borough clinics.

“Prior to our HospitalPortal installation, we had no Intranet at all and it was a gap we needed to fill,” said Aman Bhasin, chief information officer. “We needed an Intranet portal that would be a centralized location for communications, information, document repository and an integrated help desk.”

Bhasin said Preferred Health Partners selected HospitalPortal.NET because “it fit perfectly into our requirements and growth path, and it’s very much tailored to the clinical environment.”

The CIO said that doctors and staff were impressed with the portal’s easy implementation and HospitalPortal’s ability to have the Intranet on line faster than expected.

“People have gotten used to it very quickly and we agree it’s phenomenal,” Bhasin said. “We’re also very pleased that the portal can be customized, which is a very important feature for us.”

Bhasin said that Preferred Health Partners will soon implement HospitalPortal’s policies and procedures module, which will further streamline operations. The CIO praised the portal’s workflow and approval process—features appreciated by the staff.

“We have significantly reduced a tremendous amount of paperwork by putting documentation and forms such as purchasing on the Intranet,” Bhasin said. “The portal works for us because it addresses workflow and all our core needs.”
