Fishkill, NY, September 21, 2010 --(PR.com
)-- Fishkill Karate - Just For Kicks Martial Arts Center which serves Beacon, Cold Spring, Hopewell Junction, Newburgh, Wappingers Falls & Carmel is getting involved with a great cause that all local residents will enjoy. All of the local Hoe Bowl centers will be holding a Giant bowl-a-thon on October 17 from 1 to 3pm, and the proceeds will benefit The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund. The fund was created in 1996 in the honor of Jay McGillis, a special young man who developed leukemia.
The mission of the Foundation is to assist children with leukemia and other cancers and their families by providing emotional and financial support to help reduce the stress associated with treatment and improve their quality of life. The goal is to raise as much money as possible through a bowl-a-thon and raffle table. Just For Kicks has donated prizes to this to help the fund raise the funds to support this great cause.
When asked why Just For Kicks is so involved in charity events, owner Robert Blum stated; "My wife and I have always felt that giving back to the local community and charities is very important. We have been very blessed in our lives with two beautiful and healthy children and a great loving home, so we feel it is vital that we help give back to those in need. I also feel it is very important for our students to understand just how much a persons life can change due to the generosity of others."
