Park West Gallery Founder Albert Scaglione Honored by the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame

Park West Gallery Donates Sports Memorabilia to Support the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame and the Park West Foundation

Southfield, MI, September 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Park West Gallery founder and CEO, Albert Scaglione, and wife, Mitsie Scaglione, were honored during the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame’s annual induction ceremony at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi, MI, on September 13, 2010. The Hall of Fame recognized the Scagliones for their extensive and generous involvement in Michigan.

Specifically, in an ongoing collaboration with the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame, the Scagliones and Park West Gallery provided memorabilia and artworks from its world-class sports collection to be sold, and 100% of the proceeds are to be donated equally to the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame and the Park West Foundation.

“Park West Gallery is grateful for the opportunity to support both the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame and the Park West Foundation,” said Albert Scaglione. “Both organizations share the mission of assisting and educating children, and that is a mission that both Mitsie and I support strongly.”

While the collaboration is ongoing and items are available to be purchased at Park West Gallery, the Gallery also donated a Muhammad Ali Boxing Glove collage specifically for the ceremony, and it was made available for bidding during the live auction. It sold for more than triple the opening bid, and all proceeds went to the Hall of Fame.

“We appreciate greatly the donation by Albert and Mitsie Scaglione – their vision and desire for helping children is shared by the Hall of Fame, and we look forward to working together more in the future,” said Jim Stark, executive director of the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame.

The 2010 inductees into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame include: Bob Becker, George Blaha, Steve Fraser, Bill Flemming, Marian Ilitch, Peter Karmanos, Rick Leach, Meg Mallon, Herman Moore, Eddie Murray, Jack Roush, Jon Urbancheck.

“Part of what made this year’s Michigan Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony such an overwhelming success was the involvement of significant community leaders like L. Brooks Patterson, executive of Oakland County, Dave Bing, mayor of Detroit, and of course, the Scagliones,” said Ray Scott, Ambassador for the Lutheran Children and Family Service and former player and coach of the Detroit Pistons.

“The Scagliones are two of the most generous people I know,” Scott added.
