Lancashire Stairlift Company, Multicare, Pioneers Revolutionary ‘Slide Track’ Safety Device

Multicare Stairlifts is pioneering a new safety device for people who need stair lifts.

Colne, United Kingdom, September 23, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Colne based stairlift specialist, Multicare Stairlifts, has brought safety to new heights with a device which helps prevent injuries in the home.

The unique ‘Slide Track’, which Multicare Stairlifts now sells, is a groundbreaking solution from Minivator which removes the need for ‘Hinged Tracks’ on stair lifts.

“Hinged Tracks can be dangerous, noisy and expensive,” said Martin Baldwin, Managing Director of Multicare Stairlifts.

“But this amazing invention completely removes the need for Hinged Tracks. It’s a totally new concept.”

Hinged Tracks are sometimes needed if the doorway is too close to the staircase.

The track has to extend beyond the staircase to the hall floor so the seat can get low enough for the user to sit on - however the doorway might be obstructing it.

The track would have to be folded away from the doorway to clear access.

But the new Slide Track removes the need for this. Instead of folding it away, the track moves up the staircase at the same time as the seat is moving - leaving the doorway at the base of the stairs unobstructed.

The Slide Track is safer than the hinged system because it removes the risk of an object getting caught in the hinge.

It is fitted with safety sensors at either end, which halts the track if there is an obstacle during use. The stair lift can continue to the obstacle - if safe - or be moved away from the obstruction.

The Slide Track works automatically when the toggle or remote control is activated.

Mr Baldwin said: “As well as the extra safety features it takes away the possibility of tripping over the Hinged Track.

“Anyone who needs a Hinged Track on their stair lift should seriously consider getting a Slide Track instead.”

Multicare Stairlifts is an accredited NHS provider of community equipment, specialising in supplying community equipment to help people who have recently been discharged from hospital or who find it difficult to get around the home.
