Washington, DC, September 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- September is African Heritage Month. In 2010, Cameroon and sixteen other countries are celebrating 50 years of independence, plus Cameroon was one of five African Countries to represent Africa during the recent Soccer World which took place for time in Africa. Clearly 2010 and September is particular is a great time to launch an African Diaspora Organization with mission 'to build the Capacity, Relevance and Visibility of community organizations' in the diaspora and homeland.

The Cameroon American Council – CAC, officially launched on September 1st and 2nd 2010 with a well attended and substantive workshop on 'Capacity Building for African Immigrant Organizations'. The workshop brought for the first time ever, Federal and local agencies (HUD, HHS' Office of Minority Health, several agencies from the DC Mayor's Office) as well as National and Regional recognized institutions (Foundation Center, Nonprofit Roundtable, African American Giving Circle, Association of Fundraising Professionals, Young Nonprofit Professionals Network) to discuss organizational development, grant seeking/writing skills, program implementation/evaluation as well as media/press relations specifically geared toward the underserved African Immigrant Community Organizations based in the USA.

For those who missed the innovative workshop there is another exciting and informative event for you to participate in. While CAC started September with a bang they are ending it with a bang.

Please join the Cameroon American Council with support from M.U.S.I.T.A.M. Inc. (Muslims Sharing Islam through the Arts & Media), Millennium Arts Salon, Bui Family Union_USA, and the Cameroon Embassy; next Tuesday September 28th 2010 at 6PM at The Howard University Hospital, as we discuss Cameroon Art from a Royal (grassroots) perspective as well as a western (academic) perspective. We are dedicating our Arts+Culture Program to the Cameroon First Lady: Mama Chantal Biya. See the below agenda. RSVP by Tuesday 9/28 by 4pm required.

CAC is currently excepting presenters at their Fall Capacity Building Workshops and also donations to help ensure the longevity of these empowering workshops and more.
