Local ICT Industry to Benefit from International Not-for-Profit Organisation

Gold Coast, Australia, September 29, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Following on from the successful software industry development programs with local universities over the last 12 months, The International Institute of Software Economics, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IISEIE) has formally set up its Australian branch.

IISEIE is a not-for-profit organisation committed to driving applied research that both informs and aligns industry-based programs to develop local software economies. They are structured as a world-class collaborative network which seeks research and industry based program opportunities, and supports their execution via professional communities, virtual enterprises and a common shared services infrastructure.

IISEIE CEO Malcolm Fraser recognised the significant and growing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry in Australia, as well as the vibrant demand for software innovations across the country, which was the motivation for setting up an Australian arm of the Institute.

“The objectives of the Australian IISEIE branch will be to focus on facilitating collaboration between the various stakeholder of the local software economy, and supporting software start-ups, entrepreneurs and vendors to develop innovative software solutions with export potential,” he said.

“We aim to help provide local ICT businesses with increased support to grow their businesses as well as encourage increased entrepreneurship and investment in Australia," he continued.

IISEIE will launch their new branch by hosting the Clusters and Collaboration Summit at Griffith University Gold Coast Campus on October 13. The Summit will target those interested parties in the global competitiveness, and national economic/social benefits of the development of Hi-Technology Clusters, Technology Parks, Incubators, Innovation Centres and ICT/Software Trade Associations.

The IISEIE Australian Branch will be located on the Gold Coast.
