Interface, Inc. Featured in Product Life Cycle Innovation Online Conference

Interface, Inc. and AltaTerra Research will address life cycle analysis and environmental product declarations in AltaTerra Research online conference on October 20.

Palo Alto, CA, September 29, 2010 --(PR.com)-- AltaTerra Research is pleased to announce the online conference, “Product Life Cycle Innovation: Interface, Inc. Case Study,” to be held Wednesday, October 20 at 11:00 am Pacific / 2:00 pm Eastern.

Speakers for this online conference include: Jaclyn Pitera of AltaTerra Research, Melissa Vernon, director of sustainable strategy at InterfaceFLOR, and Connie Hensler, director of corporate life cycle assessment programs for Interface, Inc. These speakers will draw on their expertise and experience to provide a high-level overview of life cycle analysis (LCA) and environmental product declaration (EPD) concepts and methods, followed by details on how LCA is used to support decision-making in a business context, and for EPDs in the marketplace. The technical side of LCA at Interface will also be examined through descriptions of basic methodology and specific examples. The session will be introduced and moderated by Don Bray, president of AltaTerra Research.

“Interface launched the world’s first climate neutral carpet, and was first in the industry to release EPDs,” said AltaTerra’s Jaclyn Pitera. “We’re delighted to have sustainable business professionals from this iconic company discuss how and why they’re using LCA, its impact on business decisions, example analyses, and why they created environmental product declarations.”

Participants will learn effective strategies for developing, identifying, and marketing ‘green’ products; how life cycle analysis (LCA) is used in a large, product design and manufacturing company; the costs and benefits of using LCA and environmental product declarations (EPDs); how life cycle thinking can be used for creating innovations in new and existing products; how to prioritize environmental impact results from LCA; how product LCA is related to eco-labels and EPDs; and, what resources and tools can be used to conduct an effective LCA.

This event is designed for corporate sustainability and corporate responsibility professionals; R&D, design engineering, and product marketing executives and managers; marketing communications and PR professionals; environmental and regulatory affairs managers; procurement and purchasing directors; and clean technology industry professionals.
