Red Mangrove Galapagos Lodges Extend Hospitality to Mainland: New Package Combines Best of Galapagos with Sensual Pleasures of Pacific Coast

Red Mangrove Galapagos Lodges Launches New Adventure Tour Combining the Magic of the Galapagos Islands with the Sensual Pleasures of the Mainland Ecuador Coast.

Boulder, CO, October 01, 2010 --( A new program that combines the best of mainland Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands is now available through Red Mangrove Galapagos Lodges (

Entitled Extraordinary Ecuador, the tour combines five islands and mainland Pacific beaches on an 11 night/12 day hosted adventure that starts at $3,955 per person, double ($4,781 single). Included are accommodations, most meals, English-speaking naturalist-guides, all domestic flights from start to finish, airport and ferry transfers, all required gear and service charge. There is a 25% discount for children under 10 years old. Departures may be scheduled year-round.

This environmentally and socially responsible company is pioneering multi-island, land-based touring while guiding a fragile ecosystem to a sustainable future. In so doing guests experience green, solution-oriented experiences surrounding natural and social environments.

“We want to encourage our Galapagos visitors to also experience the magic of mainland Ecuador while they’re so close,” said Hernan Rodas, the lodging company’s visionary owner. He pointed out that the cost of mainland touring is about half the cost of touring the islands.

This journey explores five islands (Santa Cruz, Floreana, Isabela, Santa Fe and Isla Tortuga) plus the vibrant ecosystems of the Ecuadorian coast boasting an amazing diversity of endemic plants and birds where one can climb from dry forests at the coast to lush cloud forest hills only a few kilometers away.

On the islands the adventure begins with a trip to "Los Gemelos" (The Twins), two enormous collapsed lava chambers, an inspiring visual reminder of the power of nature. Next is a visit to a 600-acre private reserve where the giant Galapagos tortoises freely roam. Ensuing days find visitors hiking, snorkeling and exploring the pirate lore, volcanoes and sea coves rife with bird, animal and marine life.

Back on the mainland in La Ruta del Sol, 10 minutes away from the village of Montanita, Red Mangrove Samai Lodge is surrounded by sounds of the jungle and cooled by ocean breezes. It is an inn and spa best suited for relaxation and wellness. Tour participants will spend four nights here tapping into the strong energy that stems from the encounter of mountain and sea. Samai Lodge has been set up following a mixture of Feng Shui, Andean, and Amazonian influences.

Here, fortified by natural and healthy gourmet cuisine, guests indulge in ocean activities - snorkeling, fishing, sailing, surfing, and whale watching in season. Inland, guests visit the Agua Blanca Community site museum run by indigenous people. Members of this community live in a way very similar to that of their ancestors, the pre-Hispanic Manteña Culture. There is also a tour of Guayaquil City included.

About Red Mangrove Galapagos Lodges
Red Mangrove Galapagos Lodges in 2007 introduced a land-based alternative to exploring the Galapagos that heretofore was a cruise-only destination. With upscale waterfront lodges strategically situated on Santa Cruz, Isabela and Floreana, it is the only company offering high quality, branded accommodations and services on multiple islands in the Galapagos. Because it is land-based, Red Mangrove can offer a more extensive roster of activities and more flexibility than traditional cruise options.

The customary way to experience Red Mangrove’s hospitality is to spend a number of nights on each island accessed by small boat and/or aircraft. With 14 guest rooms, Aventura Lodge on Santa Cruz is distinguished by its unique architectural design which blends its mangrove forest and seafront environments tastefully and responsibly. Its location boasts generous views of Puerto Ayora Bay. Separated from the ocean by a white sand, palm-lined beach, Isabela Lodge offers eight rooms outside the sleepy fisherman’s village of Puerto Villamil on one of the most volcanically active islands on Earth. Red Mangrove Floreana Lodge is a romantic gathering of 10 private pine cottages just a five minute walk from the village of Puerto Velasco Ibarra (population 150).
