From Maine to the Chilean Miners: a Beacon of Hope and Light

South Portland, ME, October 02, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Newton’s Naturals - Maine’s largest direct-to-consumer vitamin company - has donated a supply of Sublingual Vitamin D-3 to each of the 33 men trapped when the San Jose mine in Chili recently collapsed.

This gesture of goodwill and worldwide social responsibility is a direct response to the miners’ urgent medical needs. NASA doctors and engineers who were called to Chile earlier in the month advised the men to boost their Vitamin D intake due to a lack of sunlight required to synthesize this vital nutrient. However, most supplements are low potency formulas containing negligible amounts of Vitamin D (400-1,000 IU). They don’t provide sufficient nutrition, leaving the miners at risk for low energy, pain, heart disease, diabetes, depression and more.

Dr. Michael Pinkus, one of Dr. Newton’s Naturals most respected physicians, developed Sublingual Vitamin D-3. His formula contains 5,000 IU in the most effective form — cholecalciferol. That’s equivalent to eating 250 egg yolks or drinking 50 cups of fortified milk. Because Sublingual Vitamin D-3 dissolves under the tongue, it provides immediate nutrition directly into the bloodstream — without the need of water. This is especially crucial to the Chilean miners as they are receiving limited supplies of food, water and supplements through a 4-inch supply line.

It is the sincere hope of everyone at Dr. Newton’s Naturals of Maine that the Chilean miners are rescued as quickly as possible. In the meantime, may this gift from the Lighthouse State be a beacon of hope for each man.
